Lil Red’s Legacy
Sepsis Awareness Campaign

Lil Red’s Legacy Sepsis Awareness Campaign is Ireland’s first and only Sepsis awareness campaign. It was set up in 2018 after the tragic and preventable death of Seàn Hughes aka Lil Red, due to Sepsis. Seàn’s parents Karen and Joe vowed to make it their mission to empower people with the knowledge of how to recognize the symptoms of Sepsis.

Lil Red’s Legacy Sepsis Awareness Campaign is working on producing as much information and educational material as is possible to help the general public become aware of this often deadly condition, and for professionals who can then help the public learn about Sepsis when it does strike.

Our Vision

A world in which no one is harmed by Sepsis.

Our Mission

Save lives and reduce suffering by improving Sepsis awareness and care.

Our Background

The campaign was formed in 2018 by Karen and Joe after they found out that Sepsis was the cause of their son Seàn Hughes death. Seàn Hughes parents never heard of Sepsis before then. To their enormous credit, they have single-handedly pioneered the public awareness campaign around Sepsis in Ireland.
